Chest physiotherapy aims to relieve congestion of the upper airway of lung by a method of acceleration of
expiratory flow directed. The decongestion by physiotherapy combined with medication can prevent the majority of cases of super infection and pulmonary complications while shortening the time for healing. The clearing of the upper airway is a crucial step for the child or adult to find a free breathing while relieving airway. It induces an acceleration of expiratory flow that can cause coughing and thus promote the sputum. This method will be followed by a technique of inducing coughing if the child or adult does not cough alone. Chest physiotherapy is performed on children and babies with bronchiolitis, bronchitis or pneumonia and on adults suffering from chronic obstructive broncho pneumopathy bronchitis, emphysema or pneumonia. This physical therapy, performed on children, may seem impressive to parents, although not painful !
