The goal of uro-gynaecological kinesitherapy is to strengthen the pelvic floor and all the associated sphincters.
The goal of Pelvic floor re-education is to strengthen the pelvic floor, the deep abdominal wall and improve co-activation between both.
Rehabilitation involves a range of pain-free techniques:
- Health and diet advice
- Manual techniques and biofeedback to learn how to contract and release the pelvic floor correctly
- Strengthening of the pelvic floor, the deep abdominal wall
- Proprioception exercises (anticipation, timing and co-activation)
- If necessary, use of electrical stimulation
This treatment is indicated for women and men with various conditions, including:
- Stress urinary incontinence
- Overactive bladder
- Mixed incontinence
- Postpartum
- Perineal issues (hypertonic, pain, …)
- Prolapse of a pelvic organ
Pelvic floor re-education must be prescribed by a doctor.
